In the Pursuit of National Medical/Health Science Events - A Primer Focused on Convention Centers, October 2015

0.00 23.95

Medical and health science events represent the largest economic sector in the meetings and convention industry; 1,549 events annually – comprising 17.3% of all major events. Most CVBs and convention centers actively market themselves as locations for this lucrative event sector.  Past event location decisions were compiled and studied using a variety of sources and conclusions reached based on those decisions. This white paper is intended to demonstrate that some level of prediction can be applied for sales and marketing teams trying to book a large medical/health science event which rotates regional locations and cities within those regions. The paper strongly suggests that cities and convention centers competing for these events give strong consideration to the history of events and recognize that past location data and patterns form a probability of success. The paper expands on the probabilities and suggests reasons that event owners and organizers come to make these decisions.
